iROKOtv branches into Nollywood DVD production

iRoko Tv has announced the production of DVDs for some Nigerian movies, starting with 17 top Nollywood titles in HD-quality.
Celebrated around the world for bringing Nollywood onto the internet, this move was made by the company because it seeks to step up the production of top quality DVDs for those who do not have access to the Internet or who prefer to watch their favourite movies on disc.
iroko tvThe movies released first include: ‘Baby Oku in America’, ‘Mrs. Somebody’, ‘Somewhere in Africa’, ‘Single and Married’ and ‘Oga On Top’. They are currently being sold on Nigerian e-commerce platform, Jumia.
The Head of Business for iROKOtv, Adibeli Nduka-Agwu, commenting on the launch, said: “With the launch of our DVD business in Nigeria, we feel that we’re coming home and providing awesome Nollywood movies, beautifully boxed and published in HD, to the world’s biggest Nollywood fanbase, Nigeria.
“Not all Nigerians have access to broadband internet connectivity, but we didn’t want our Nigerian Nollywood fans to miss out on getting access to the top movies, hence we’ve moved into DVDs as well as our websitewww.irokotv.com.
“With the launch of iROKOtv DVD, we are making  Nollywood superstars like Uche Jombo, Mercy Johnson, Majid Michel,  Mr. Ibu and Ramsey Nouah available online and offline 24 hours a day, however people want to access their favourite movies.”
The DVDs will also be available in the Ikeja, Anthony Village, Festac and the Island areas of Lagos.
